About Chopta – Mini Switzerland of Uttarakhand
Chopta is a peaceful hill station located at an altitude of around 2,680 meters. Known as the base for the Tungnath trek, Chopta is famous for lush meadows, dense forests, and panoramic views of Chaukhamba and Kedarnath peaks.
About Tungnath Temple
Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world at an altitude of 3,680 meters. It is one of the sacred Panch Kedar temples and is accessible via a well-paved trek from Chopta, suitable even for beginners.
Chandrashila Summit – Highest Viewpoint of the Region
Chandrashila summit lies 1.5 km above Tungnath Temple at an altitude of around 4,000 meters. The summit offers 360-degree views of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba, Kedar Dome, and other Himalayan peaks.
Deoria Tal – High Altitude Himalayan Lake
Deoria Tal is a pristine high-altitude lake located near Sari village. The lake is famous for its crystal-clear reflections of Chaukhamba peak and is one of the most scenic spots in Uttarakhand.
5 Days Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila Itinerary
Day 1: Haridwar / Rishikesh → Sari Village
Drive through Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Ukhimath to reach Sari village. Evening village walk and overnight stay.
Day 2: Sari → Deoria Tal → Chopta
Morning trek to Deoria Tal lake (2.5 km one way). After exploring the lake, drive to Chopta. Overnight stay at Chopta.
Day 3: Chopta → Tungnath → Chandrashila
Early morning trek to Tungnath Temple followed by Chandrashila summit. Return to Chopta by afternoon.
Day 4: Chopta → Ukhimath → Kalimath
Visit Omkareshwar Temple at Ukhimath and the sacred Kalimath Temple. Enjoy valley views and cultural exploration.
Day 5: Chopta → Rishikesh / Haridwar
Enjoy sunrise views from Chopta meadows and drive back to Rishikesh or Haridwar.
